First night back

Tonight saw the first DRCMCC Club Night since the Covid-19 lockdown was enforced.

The evening went without any problems and feedback from everyone who attended was good. The new lighting and track markers went down a treat and everyone adhered to the new rules we’ve had to enforce.

The results from tonight can be viewed via the Results page of our website.

Thanks to all that attended, and we look forward to seeing you again next week.

So many changes…

COVID-19 has brought a lot of challenges to RC clubs like ours. We’ve taken this as an opportunity to move forward with the times.

Firstly, we’ve suffered for years with poor lighting at our venue. Over the past few months though the venue has had a complete refit. The work included the installation of LED lighting.

Using online facilities to purchase products and services has become common place. We’ve followed suit. Our new website includes an online booking and race fee payment facility. We are now unable to handle cash at the venue so pre-booking is now necessary for all DRCMCC events.

How you view your race results has also changed. We’ve gone paperless and live. Race results can now be viewed directly from our website. The results are posted live so these can be viewed from any mobile device with an internet connection at the venue or at home.

Refreshments. A bit of a downer. Bring your own. For the foreseeable we will not have refreshments for sale at our events. This is down to us being unable to handle cash. If guidance changes this could well be coming back.

As you can appreciate we have implemented a number of things so for the first few meetings please bare with us.

Anyway, booking is open for the 19th August.

Finally, please read this COVID-19 update. All drivers must be aware of what is required when visiting our venue. We hope to see you next week.

Thanks

COVID-19 UPDATE

For events at the DRCMCC to run safely we have implemented a number of changes:

  • An online booking service has been added to our website. This will allow drivers to book and pay their race fees for DRCMCC events. All drivers MUST use this facility. We are unable to handle cash at the venue so if you haven’t booked and paid your race fees online you will NOT be able to race.
  • If you think you may have symptoms of COVID-19 then stay at home.
  • Your booking will be cancelled if you live within an area that has a lockdown in force.
  • Our pit area will be laid out so drivers aren’t facing each other.
  • A one way system will be in force when drivers are required to move from the pit to the track or vice versa.
  • Everyone MUST wear a face mask when either marshalling or moving around the venue. We advise people for there own safety to wear masks in the pitting area. This is at your discretion but PLEASE think of others around you.
  • You MUST bring with you a pair of gloves and a Hi-Viz jacket. These will be required when marshalling as we are unable to hand these out.
  • Whilst we do have some hand sanitizer we ask everyone to bring there own.
  • If you are under the age of 16 you MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
  • Strictly NO visitors. If you aren’t racing or accompanying a child under the age of 16 you will NOT be allowed to enter the venue.
  • There will be NO refreshments available for purchase. Bring your own food and drink.
  • There will be NO bins so anyone attending the venue must take their rubbish home.

At any given time we may alter the above rules so please ensure you read this post before attending our events.

Thank you all for your co operation.

Welcome to the DRCMCC website

Every Wednesday at the Ukranian Centre in Weston-on-Trent, we race electric radio controlled cars. It is a friendly environment where people can race and share tips. It is especially useful for people wanting to start out in the hobby.

The classes that are commonly run are 1/10th touring cars, Tamiya Mini’s and GT12’s. Motors vary from 17.5, 13.5 and even mod; but as the track is very tight and twisty generally the slower motors are actually quicker.

The weekly results are uploaded to this website and show just how close all the different classes can be.

As the DRCMCC track is different every week, if you arrive early enough, you can create your own layout the club is always open to suggestions.

There isn’t a championship as such but there are plenty of people willing to give you a race.
